Barron Transport Services Ltd History

Barron Transport Services was founded back in 1970 by Billy Barron Snr. , throughout the 1970s the main business being Tipper Services. In the 1980s the business continued to grow with some Artics and Trailers joining the fleet and Sea going containers became the mainstay of the business. At this stage Allison (Billys wife) joined the company as a partner, to keep pace with the ever growing administration side of the business.

 

In the 1990s the container work went into decline and Barron Transport joined the growing Express Parcel Market with dedicated Linehaul, Airfreight Services and C & D vehicles dominating the fleet. At this stage William Barron Jnr. & Allastair Barron joined the company.

 

Experience in the parcels market led the company in the late 90s to further development of Warehousing at the Depot and subsequent provision of “White Glove Home Delivery Services” for a well known retailer.

 

From 2000 until the present day the business has continued to grow organically and currently has a very diverse customer base including, Logistics Providers, Manufacturers, Airlines and High Street Retailers. We believe that the transport industry is constantly evolving and we have endeavoured to adapt quickly to meet all our customers’ requirements. Our Management Team can make informed decisions quickly, giving us the flexibility to move as customer demands are made.

 

We are located on an Arterial Route outside Antrim town, 5 minutes from Belfast International Airport, 25 minutes from Larne and Belfast Ports and 2 hours from Dublin.

30 Vehicles varying from a capacity of 1000kgs up to 44000kgs gross.
40 Trailers ( 10 of which are specialist Roller Floor used for Air Cargo Transportation)

Transportation of goods to Ireland, UK and Europe Full and Part Loads.
Air Cargo Transportation.
Fully Trained 2 man White glove Home Delivery Service.
Warehousing, Storage and Logistics – Total capacity 20,000 sq.ft. Secure site staffed 24 hours.
Vehicle Hire, maintenance and sales.

Our workforce currently consists of  40 employees most of whom have been with us for many years, we provide good working conditions which encourages our staff to remain with the company and offer the best in customer service.
